MHIRJ Unveils New Component Repair and Overhaul Facility in Bridgeport, WV

Montréal, October 27, 2021 – MHIRJ unveiled a new facility being built in Bridgeport, West Virginia which will serve as MHIRJ’s Aftermarket Component Center of Excellence. The new Center of Excellence will specialize in Component Repair and Overhaul (CR&O) and short order spare parts manufacturing. The Facility was built with the assistance of a Federal EDA grant and will double the amount of MHIRJ’s component repair jobs in West Virginia and introduce manufacturing jobs to North Central Regional Airport Aerotech Business Park. The new facility will allow MHIRJ to provide a greater selection of services to our CRJ Series customers and provide a platform for further diversification and growth.

In attendance at the unveiling were State Senator Mike Romano, County Commissioner David Hinkle and Mayor Andy Lang as well as Hiro Yamamoto, President and CEO of MHIRJ. “This new business venture is very important for the future of MHIRJ, and we are grateful for the support that we have received from the various levels of government allowing us to take this crucial step,” said Hiro Yamamoto.

Ismail Mokabel, SVP and Head of Aftermarket added, “MHIRJ is committed to growing the aftermarket business, expanding our service offering and tailoring solutions in support of our customer needs. Our new Aftermarket Component Center of Excellence is an integral part of our security of supply strategy leveraging our OEM technical know-how and the outstanding workmanship of our West Virginia team. The CR&O expansion will provide our customers with economical repair solutions covering a wider variety of critical parts. The short order spare parts manufacturing gives us superior agility to react to dynamic fleet needs and hedge against supply chain disruptions. This facility will allow us to better serve our customers, grow our aftermarket business and will benefit West Virginia by creating good long term, high paying jobs.”

“MHIRJ is a great partner for West Virginia, and I am pleased they are expanding yet again here in the Mountain State,” declared U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, III. “After meeting with the Chairman of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries last year, I know they have big plans for West Virginia. That’s why I worked to secure millions in Economic Development Administration awards for the expansion of the North Central Regional Airport Aerotech Business Park and fought for more than $40 million in direct payroll support to help the Bridgeport facility stay open during the COVID-19 pandemic. MHIRJ provides good-paying jobs and keeps investing in our regional economic development, and I look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership in the years to come.”

“MHIRJ is a company that provides great jobs for West Virginians, and their management team is pursuing a real vision for our state,” said W.Va. Senator Mike Romano. “The new MHIRJ Component Repair and Overhaul facility is another promise kept by MHIRJ that continues to build North Central West Virginia’s reputation as a magnet for aerospace industry innovation and excellence. We all have a deep respect and appreciation for MHIRJ CEO, Hiro Yamamoto, Senior Vice President, Ismail Mokabel, and Head of the Service Centers, Anthony Hinton who have shown such great confidence in our state. I have been so honored to be a part of this expansion over the past decade which could not have happened without Senator Manchin’s ever-present support. We know that many more great accomplishments are to come.”
